The Hardest Button to Button

I've talked about the White Stripes before and they kick ass. Rock, blues, and punk at it's most primal. It's simple music but it's also ridiculously original. This video shows IT all off. They always have cool videos but with just two of them in the band, this shows them off. They must of borrowed a ton of equipment for this one. See them live when they come to your town!

Post Taxes Blues

You know, I don't hate the idea of paying taxes. I am fine if some of my money can be used to fix this world I live in. But it's not. I do hate seeing my tax money not being put towards things that I see as useful for the improvement of our society in general. Excuse me if it seems like this administration is putting our entire country's assets into war. I see our schools sinking lower and lower, the kids getting more ignorant. Lower passing standards. If the schools look bad because of stupid students, they lower the passing standards to stay open. They also consistently cancel any classes encouraging imagination (music, art, etc.). Health care is still not free (as it should be). The countries with national healthcare programs use their consitutents taxes to pay for free health care for them. Imagine your taxes helping YOU out! It's actually more of a business for the rich now than it ever was (HMO's). Homelessness is still rampant. The poor are getting poorer, the rich richer. The ice is melting at the poles. Big business and pollution have finally started changing our climate. There are also more countries/governments (besides Iraq) that are oppressing their people brutally. Going unchecked. Children and adults are still starving in large numbers throughout the world. AIDS has not went away. It's spread. Beef has mad-cow. Chickens have bird-flu. Fish are over-fished and polluted with chemicals. Most major diseases have still not yet been cured (AIDS, Cancer, etc.). Cars and machines are still powered by oil. The list goes on. My gripe is that the roughly $400 bucks I paid (plus what was taken out of my salary all year) has not went towards anything beneficial to either me, children, the poor, the needy, or the oppressed. Way to go government (sarcasm)!! You guys (and Condoleeza) suck! How about fixing something besides our oil supply. I'm not sure how much money the government makes off of taxes, but it goes straight into the war/business machine, and I don't like it. What can I do, except gripe. I'd get audited if I complained to them. Think about it. They take your money too. Is it going where you would want it to go?

Great T-Shirts

For some reason I've become quite into buying interesting t-shirts at this point in my life. This first site I list here has THE FUNNIEST shirts I have seen for sale. Anyone would be the lowbrow life of the party with one of these.

This next site has badass music and clothing. Where the last site has comical shirts, this site has very interesting graphically designed shirts. The Respects V.2 shirts and the Worldwide shirts attracted my attention. Please check out their whole site. There are alot of my favorite bands there.

Funny Car Commercial

This is one of the most ridiculous car ads I have ever seen. No computers, just good old 1980's wire tricks. These are all real cars flying around comically. The cars also seem to multiply every time they switch the footage. Funny. The fact the cars don't look sporty at all by any year's standards is also quite amusing. Enjoy.

The Most Obscure Jimi Hendrix Footage!!!

I saw this on www.youtube.com and it blew me away. I am a Hendrix fanatic, so I have watched everything I've ever been able to get my hands on. This, I have never found anywhere else. It looks like someone's home footage of Hendrix at his house, on his bed, jammin to some ladies. Jimi holds it down too.

The Flaming Lips "At War With The Mystics" CD

these guys don't have to prove themselves to me. after their last 4 albums, a DVD, and 1 live show on new years... they had me sold as the 2nd coming of Pink Floyd (oh...try and argue me!). I cracked a beer and threw this new album on. All of the genius songwriting, 3D recording, and deep lyrics r there. reliably. i loved yoshimi. synthetic electronic soundscapes and futuristic rhythms. but this album didn't have that. it sounds like a band recorded in 1976. a cross between the best late-era beatles and any pink floyd. i kept hearing riffs i was like damn, thats great, sounds familiar, oh its like the beatles or floyd. but that was a good memory! something i liked from years ago that i haven't heard again since back "in the day". the music and songwriting is there. they rock. it has everything. slow, groovin. funky, rockin', and psychedelic. pick it up if u have liked anything they have done in awhile. it is THE BEST thing they have done in 4 years fo sho'!!! 5 out 5 stars.

Obviously 8 Drops of Silver...The Secret Machines New Album "10 Drops of Silver"

this new album rocks. i loved 80% of the last album (not the EP though) minus the slow songs (but those were good for mellower times). i expected as much. but only 8 songs (with a title "10 drops of silver"?). I read the reviews. mixed. but everything they had on the last album is there. a badass trio. bass, drums, guitar/keys, and a voice. that's all there along with the good songs. people r misinformed about this albums intensity. the intensity is there but this album doesn't have the production distortion or grit from the last album. but i don't care. the songs r just as good but they did ALL of them cleaner (recording-wise). it's tough as a psychedelic band to come out the same day as the flaming lips. very hard. buy that album before this one (at war with the mystics) BUT also buy this one if you liked their last full album. I thought their last album was one of the best debuts in the last 20 years. tough to follow it up. but they did it. this album is goooood!! u will like it. just give it a minute and forget about the fuzz it lacks. all they needed to do was add fuzz to the bass if u think something is missing. but listen to the bass...it doesn't need fuzz. and he's the one singing, baby! 4 out of 5 stars
