The White Stripes "Get Behind Me Satan"
when he was done talking about his biscuit, jack white strolled the stage like an old blues musician. this guy is another genius. jack is a great songwriter who can get across rock pomposity or folk music with true authenticity. with only a drummer to back his guitar, vocals, piano, or marimba,,, he makes the most out of very fundamental musical elements. i saw him at an opera house in chicago (last week) and he looked like some mexican mariachi musician, but they had TOTAL control over the house. this new album is about 50/50 a) slow songs with marimba or country tinges and b) hard rockin bluesy stripes. i still prefer elephant to this, but live these 2 rocked........hard! i saw them last new years live (w/ the flaming lips) and they sounded 20x better last week. they had better lights, backdrop, and song arrangement (a non-stop mix of songs, jack never lets it get silent for much applause). i say check em out live and buy elephant (their last album). 4 out of 5 thumbs
